Summary
Robert M. Givens was born in Decatur, Illinois, in 1944 to parents who were running a highly successful home improvement business. They provided him an affluent lifestyle for his first nine years, filled with a live-in maid, house staff, expensive vacations, and country club memberships. Then bankruptcy, divorce, and personal issues completely changed the family circumstances. In Heir to the Kingdom, author Robert M. Givens recounts his experiences during these tumultuous times and shares the valuable lessons he learned along the way. From his earlier years growing up and meeting his wife to his time being drafted into the infantry in Vietnam, Robert’s story is a journey of faith that would eventually culminate in his acceptance of Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. His life, family, and work would be influenced by his faith—something that a younger Robert M. Givens would have never thought or believed was possible. God shows up continually in Robert’s life, and as a result, he must decide who this God is and whether or not he is relevant to him and his life. It turns out the journey will be full of surprising personal revelations and inspiring events, as Robert sees God’s faithfulness at work in his life
